Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2023-03-16

Explorer is at Roca Partida today for our second day here. Wind up a little compared to yesterday, 10-15kts from the north, swell around 4-5′, sky mostly clear. Air temp 25C. We have the rock all to ourselves today.

Two dives done so far. Current is quite strong today but for the divers who got in the sweet spot they enjoyed some very sharky diving. Water temp 23C and viz around 80ft again today. Here’s a paragraph I used an AI program to generate about diving at Roca Paritda. Maybe a little over the top, what do you guys think?

“Plunging into the waters surrounding Roca Partida, a seemingly inconspicuous lava plug of an ancient underwater volcano, you’ll find yourself immersed in a hidden world teeming with vibrant life. As you descend beneath the surface, the guano-covered rock gives way to an underwater oasis, where congregations of silver-tip, galapagos, white-tip, silky, and hammerhead sharks gracefully navigate the deep blue. Giant Pacific mantas often encircle the rock, their mere presence enveloping you in a wave of wonder and awe. You may hear the haunting song of a humpback whale echoing in the distance, adding a soundtrack to your surreal adventure. Witness the thrilling spectacle of mighty yellow-fin tuna on the hunt, while schools of big-eyed jacks, creole fish, cottonmouth, and blackjacks dart around you, accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fish species. Diving at Roca Partida is an experience that transcends the ordinary, enveloping you in a symphony of nature’s wonders, where every moment
leaves you in awe and forever changed.”

Tomorrow our plan is dive Cabo Pearce, then Punta Tosca. Last day to be decided.
