Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2023-03-27

Today we are at south end of San Benedicto anchored near Fondeadero with the Belle and Valentina. Conditions in the anchorage are nice with an NE wind 10-15kts, some swell wrapping around from the West 2-3′ long period. Sunny skies. We started this morning with a dive around the corner near Manta highway and there were lots of animals there, 4 different mantas, a galapagos shark and a really big Tiger that came in within 3m of one group. Viz was quite low however, around 10m. Water temp 24C.
For the second dive we did the canyon and it was amazing. Loads of sharks around right now including hammerheads and 5 or 6 big galapagos at the cleaning station. Also a couple mantas around. Just loads of activity around the canyon. Viz much better, around 20-25m, current moderate from the east, water temp 23-24C.
We will do our third dive again at the canyon and thinking to try last dive at the Boiler just so they can see the divesite.
