Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady – 2023-05-24

Gallant Lady is searching the Bay of La Paz today. Wind currently is NE 5-10 with 1′ seas, overcast skies, and air temp 26C.

Last night after leaving the sperm whales we ran overnight into the southwest bay of Lap Paz, arriving at 0530 and sending the Rhib out at 0600. They put the drones up and found a couple of schools of cow-nosed rays which everyone got to see in the water. After that, we headed further north up the coast and encountered a mom and calf humpback. Now we are in San Francisco and after lunch will head out for some sea lion snorkeling while the Gallant Lady sits mid-San Jose channel watching for any Orcas that might be transiting by. The plan after that is to search towards Espiritu Santo and the east side of ES. Then head back to anchor near Punta Arenas to start tomorrow morning with some Mobula action. If the sperm whales are still around tomorrow we’ll head out there again as well.
