Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady – 2023-05-25

Today Gallant Lady is searching the south part of the Cerralvo channel and south of Cerralvo island. The wind is SE 5-10kts, 1′ seas, mostly cloudy skies.

Yesterday we spent the day in the Bay of La Paz, no sign of Orcas but we did finish the day with a couple of fin whales and a beautiful sunset. This morning we started at Punta Arenas and had a couple of good hours of mobula snorkeling. We then headed north up the channel and found a huge pod of bottlenose dolphins and had an amazing show of dolphins jumping in our wake, 50 plus jumping at the same time for 20 minutes straight.

Now we are underway to the location of the sperm whales, which was confirmed by the Scout still on location. ETA is 1500hrs there so we’ll stay with them for the afternoon, then head back to anchor around Punta arenas and go for more modules in the morning and pray for orcas either this afternoon or on our last day tomorrow.
