Captain’s Noon Reports – Belle Amie – 2023-05-30

Anchor at Roca Partida, Winds: N 10 -13 knots sometimes gust around 17 knots, Seas: NW 4-6ft long period of swell.

Yesterday we finished our day with a very nice dive at the Boiler a lot of friendly mantas around our guests as well we saw some dolphins which were swimming to the N for a couple of minutes. The current increased from light to moderate so we moved to the Canyon for dinner. Later we moved to Roca Partida. It was a smooth ride all the way to Roca.

The condition for the 1st dive was ok, the swell was around 3-5 ft long period, the dive conditions were ok, visibility was around 40-45 ft, and moderate current from S to N. The marine life was really good, we encountered a lot of sharks around, some of them were silkies we would say around 15 of them, silver tips, the school of bonitas, 1 manta was passing by and a beautiful and majestic 12 mts whale shark. All groups encountered it a couple of times.

The 2nd dive was kind of challenging for the skiff operation at the platform but nothing to worry about. Below the water the marine life was still good, we were not able to see the whale shark again just a few guests could see it, but Roca is full of sharks around the S part of the rock. It is beautiful but the visibility decreased to 35 ft and the current is moderate heading to the N, We are going to spend 2 dives more and then we sail to Socorro Punta Tosca.
