Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2023-06-15

Explorer is anchored near Fondeadero today. The wind is from the NW wrapping around a little gusting from the west 5-15kts, a long swell rolling under, and a bit of choppy seas from the westerly gusts. The sky is mostly clear, the air temp 27C water temp 25C.

We arrived at 2300 last night and have completed two dives so far. Checkout dive around Fondeadero had some low viz, around 8-9m but featured a big Tiger shark for a couple of divers and a couple of mantas as well, so all were happy. Dive 2 at the Canyon the viz was improved up to around 15m and there was lots of life, including a couple of big playful mantas, Galapagos, and silver-tips. Divers are very excited already after the first two dives of the trip. We’ll do a couple more at the Canyon this afternoon but still haven’t decided where we’ll go tomorrow.
