Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2023-06-18

Nex today at Socorro. The wind is less than 5 knots from the north, the swell is WNW 3-5′, and the sky is mostly cloudy but the air temp is warm, around 28C. Water temp on the other hand down to 21C at depth, 23-24 at surface. We started the day with a dive at Roca O’neal, and despite beautiful conditions and blue water, it was a fairly quiet dive with not much animal life. For dive 2 we decided to try Cabo Henslow, and again conditions were very nice, albeit a bit cold, but with some nice animal life this time. A few turtles around, 2 or 3 mantas cruising by in the blue, and lots of young silver tips as well. A very nice dive. For our last day tomorrow, we will head back to San Benedicto which is where all the big animals seem to be.
