Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady – 2023-08-13

NGL is at San Jose Island.

Clear sky, light breeze from the south, calm seas, air temp 37C, water temp 29C. Visibility 15mts

This morning we did dive 1 at la Barra del Mechudo. The current was strong from the south entering the channel, but the dive site offers good protection once below 8 meters. Lots of reef fishes, moray eels, and bonitos. Our guests liked it. Dive 2 we dive with the sea lions at the colony of El Pardito. Sealions were plenty, visibility was good and guests were amazed by how friendly the sea lions were. They played around the divers for 1 hr, nibbling fins, checking their reflection in the dome of cameras, and cheekily jumping in front of the divers.

The guests had a blast and we decided to do dive number 3 at the colony. After the dive, we will pick up the anchor and drive around looking for big animals before the night dive in San Francisco Bay. Yesterday afternoon we did dive 3 at C59, vis was not the best but divers enjoyed the sunken boat and swim-throughs. Then dive 4 at la Gallina, where they found 2 octopuses and lots of reef fish. We had taco night under the stars.
