Captain’s Noon Reports – Westerly – 2023-08-17

Westerly sailing at 27°13.7N-114°30.6W, wind 10 knots and waves 4 ft from the west, sky partly cloudy.

Today the dive was done in Isla Asuncion with a water temperature of 74F, no current, and 40 ft visibility. Many sea lions, garibaldis, grunts, groupers, and scientists did their monitoring work. But they commented that for the kelp to stay alive it needs a colder water temperature than it is now for this area It is hot according to the scientists. We are moving towards Bahia Tortugas to check the latest weather update and plan the logistics for tomorrow.
