Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2023-10-25

NEX is currently about 12NM WSW of south end of Isla Margarita. Wind light from the west. Overcast now this afternoon with some isolated rain showers. This morning was mostly clear.

The morning started pretty good with some bait balls not too far from the entrance to the bay, no marlin but a big bait ball with lots of dorados. After that the pangas came further south but no much luck down here. Now we are heading north and closer to the coast to see if we find any bait balls and look for some whales that the plane saw.

Yesterday was our first day out in the pangasand it was pretty uneventful. At the end, a couple of the pangas got a quick drop with a fast-moving bait ball and a few marlins. This afternoon after the panga action we’ll do a dive somewhere along the coast.
