Captain’s Noon Reports – Under Sea – 2023-12-06

Today we are anchored at RocaPartida.  Winds are about 15 kts out of NNE, two swells one from now, one more easterly.  Predominant swell from nw 2-3 meters.

Dive one was great today.  We had a decent number of white tips and silver tips, a few Galapagos sharks.  Everyone enjoyed some time with two playful mantas as well. Not much current. The second dive had fewer animals than the first dive and the current picked up to a medium current out of the north.  Everyone was happy with the dives, with lots of fish to look at, and good visibility.  It was a nice change from yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon we had much better luck with the dives. For dive 3 we went to Manta Highway. Within the first few minutes, we got some quality time with a black manta. Once it left, we continued NW to Tres Hermanos and found 3 more playful mantas. This dive made up for the first two dives with the strong current.

On dive 4, we were finally able to make it to the Canyon cleaning station. We enjoyed a bit if time sitting there watching the sharks and mantas circle the area. Visibility on dive 3 was 5-10 meters, temp 80. Dive 4 vis was 20 meters, temp 80.
