Captain’s Noon Reports – Under Sea – 2023-12-20

Hello everyone, NUS anchored in San Benedicto, west side of the island, 110 ft depth, 2.5 shots paid out, NE wind 10 kts, and a long swell from NW 3 ft.

We arrived here last night and started our day with the check dive. Due to the strong current, it wasn’t done from the stern. We did it via inflatables but in 60 ft depth, I informed this to DPA, and all went well during the check dive.

It was an epic one, divers saw everything, playful mantas, a pod of dolphins, a few hammerheads, a huge tiger shark, some scattered Galapagos sharks and silvertips, lobsters, whitetips, and octopus were there too.

After check dive we moved the boat to the Boiler. We have done 2 beautiful dives here, lots of friendly mantas, a pod of dolphins in both dives, Galapagos sharks, silver tip sharks and a hammerhead in the distance. We have one more dive to do here and then we will go back to Fondeadero and dive the Canyon tomorrow. Diving conditions are good, the current was strong in the morning but now it decreased a lot, and our divers are not struggling with it, Viz in both dive sites was 15-20 meters, and the water temperature 27 Celsius.
