Captain’s Noon Reports – Belle Amie – 2023-12-29

Belle Amie diving the south end of San Benedicto today along with the Rocio del Mar who also arrived last night. Wind is light from the NW, there is a long period swell from the WNW as well but really it’s only evident where it’s breaking at the point near Fondeadero. Sky mostly clear, air temp 28C.

We did our checkout dive off the stern near Fondeadero. There was a very strong current but all groups just drifted across the sand to Fondeadero and all had a good dive. One group had a huge Tiger shark, there were a couple mantas cruising by and some white-tips.

2nd dive at the Canyon was great, with a couple of mantas around and hammerheads. A few people got to see the big school of around 50, but most saw smaller numbers coming in close at times, also, some Galapagos sharks. Current was a little less on this dive, manageable, and water temp this morning 26-27C. Viz around 60-70ft. Two more planned here and taco night. Tomorrow we’ll dive either Cabo Pearce or Tosca, depending what Rocio is planning.
