Captain’s Noon Reports – Under Sea – 2024-01-13

NUS Anchored at 19°17.5N-110°48.3W in 45ft depth, the sky is partly cloudy, air temperature 73°F, Wind N 12 kn, and seas SW 3 ft in Anchorage.

Two dives were made this morning, the first dive, the checkout dive was made in the Fondeadero and was satisfactory, 3 chevron manta rays and two very shy tiger sharks were seen.

On the second dive in the Canyon, 1 chevron manta ray was seen, a school of more than a dozen Hammerhead Sharks, good action with Galapagos Sharks, Silvertips at the cleaning station, and two Tiger Sharks with the same behavior as in the Fondeadero. They passed without showing interest in the divers, very shy, possible the same sharks.

The water temperature was 77°F and strong current towards the west in both dives. All the guests dived. All the guests and crew members were without problems. the entire team working properly. We have two more dives in the afternoon.

We are sharing the dive site with the boat Athos, a very large sailboat. Plan for possible Boiler or Roca Partida tomorrow. All guests want two days on the Boiler.

Today it was not possible to go to the Boiler by number of boats.    Dive Site 1: Fondeadero. 2 vessels: NUS, ATHOS
