Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2024-03-01

Vessel currently at anchor at Socorro Navy Base, recovering the skiffs.

Last 2 dives were slow compared to the morning, however 2 Mantas remained to give us a show.  Overnight we steamed to Punta Tosca, arriving at 2am and started diving at 0800.  Some of the divers saw White Tips, Galapagos and another 3 or so mantas whilst a different group saw a large shoal of Parrot Fish.

This afternoon we dived the Aquarium, guests saw Mantas again, Juvenile Galapagos Sharks all whilst having the soundtrack of Whale Song. From the quality of the sound produced, they were within 3/4km but not visible.

WX: Early morning cloudy sky, giving way to blue skies, this evening the clouds have rolled back in again.  Air temp was 23C with a Sea Water temp of 25C.  In Water visibility 30m.

This evening the aspiration is to transit overnight to Roca Partida and commence diving again as usual in the morning.
