Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady – 2024-03-04

NGL cruising south along the Mechudo corridor today, currently just north of the San Jose channel. Wind is around 5kts from the NE, seas 1′, sky mostly clear, air temp 25C, water temp 19C.

After lunch yesterday we found 2 blue whales near Agua Verde and spent a couple hours watching them from the NGL. We got to see some very cool feeding behavior, coming up with their mouths full and stretched wide open. Very cool. After that we made it into Agua Verde for a sunset drink on the beach followed by taco night and a quiet night at anchor.

Today we departed Agua Verde at 0630 and have been seeing lots of animals ever since. 2 blue whales heading south outside of Agua Verde, a couple pods of dolphins and for the past half hour we’ve been following a big pod of around 40 pilot whales, heading north. The rhib is out with them now and making multiple jumps into the water with them.

Great day so far. Planning to finish at la Lobera of San Francisquito if timing permits.
