Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2024-05-10

NEX anchored between Fondeadero and Canyon today. Wind is currently 25kts from the north with 2-3′ swell/chop in the anchorage wrapping around from the north west. Sky clear, air temp 28C, water temp 24C, viz 15m.

Solmar also here with us today, although their anchor is unable to hold in this wind and they are jogging around off-site.

Despite the windy topside conditions, the diving has been good. Checkout dive was ok, nothing special, but second dive at Canyon was excellent, with a giant manta hanging around, some hammerheads, Galapagos, silver-tips. Excellent dive. Will do two more here this afternoon.

Wind is much stronger than forecast here today, for now the chances of going to RP this week don’t look good. Hopefully we can get a couple dives at the Boiler later this trip.
