Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2024-05-11

Today NEX is anchored at Punta Tosca. Wind is northerly 15-20, light chop with a couple feet of swell in the anchorage, clear skies. Air temp 28C, water temp 24C. Viz 18-20m.

Yesterday afternoon at Canyon was excellent with lots of hammerheads around the cleaning station on the last dive. Plan was to head to Cabo Pearce last night but the Quino, Rocio and NUS were all there so we came here to Tosca after dinner.

Diving here has been great today. Current is mild, viz is very night and good big animal life. One very friendly manta on the first dive and a pod of dolphins showed up at the end of the dive. On second dive there were 3 different mantas and several hammerheads. Guests are loving the diving; one had the best dive of his life.

Will do one more dive here then head to the Navy Base for inspection, then up to Cabo Pearce for tomorrow. Forecast for the 13th looking a little better today, will either do Boiler or RP on that day, depending how it looks tomorrow.
