Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2024-05-14

NEX anchored near Boiler today. Wind is NW 12-18kts, swell WNW 4-5′, sky clear, air temp 27C, water temp 23-24C, viz 15-18m. Had a great day at RP yesterday, a bit of a rolly transit overnight but not too bad. Anchored here in the bay east of the Boiler behind the rocks to get a bit of shelter from the wind chop.

Noticed this morning the pillar shaped rock that was just in front of the beach here in this bay is no longer, just the stump where it once sat. No other boats around today.

Two dives done so far and both excellent, lots of friendly mantas around here today, 3-5 individuals, as well as some hammerheads and Galapagos sharks and some big tuna. We’ll stay here the afternoon as long it stays good then head to the Canyon for dinner before we get underway to Cabo tonight.

Two of our guests are on a makeup trip for the canceled Guad trips. They were non-divers but got certified in order to take this makeup trip down here, so this is their first-time diving in open ocean and they are doing great and having a great time.

Happy the way things worked out.
