Captain’s Noon Reports – Belle Amie – 2024-08-12

Belle Amie is at San Ildefonso today. Wind has been light all day from the SE with a 1-2ft SE swell, clear skies, air temp 35C and high humidity. Diving conditions have been ok with viz quite low here today again, around 10m but lower at times, water temp 24-27C, current mild to moderate.

Yesterday afternoon at Las Animas viz stayed quite low all day so we couldn’t see any hammerheads. Besides for the viz the guests seemed happy enough though.

Today on arrival to San Ildefonso Nico spotted a pod of pilot whales so we skipped the first dive and went out to see the whales, spent a couple hours with them and everyone had a good encounter with them.

This afternoon we dived the south end of Ildefonso and saw some octopus, guitar-fish, sting-rays, reef fish. Last dive viz was really low though so not so much to see. Now we are preparing to head for San Pedro Martir and hoping for better conditions there tomorrow.
