Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2025-01-09

NEX at anchor at The Canyon 50 ft depth 2 shots out. Weather: 16-22 kts NW wind, W 2-3 ft seas. Cloudy sky. Air temp 21 C.

We arrived at the Canyon yesterday after the last dive at the Boiler. Rocio del mar moved here too. We are second in line.

2 dives so far this morning, where the first one was extraordinary as a pod of +/-20 dolphins were around getting close to our divers at least half of the dive. Everyone loved it. There were also One Black Manta, some Galapagos, silkies, silvertips among other sharks. One of the groups could saw a tiger shark near the Manta rock. Viz was good, 20 mts and water temp 24C.

Second dive was good, again one manta at the cleaning station, Galapagos sharks, silkies, dusky, silvertips. 2 groups saw a school of 10 hammerheads but the last group they saw a huge school of hammerheads about 60 of them, they were hyped. Water conditions same as first dive.

2 dives more to go at the Canyon this afternoon. It has been windy and chilly today as forecasted. This evening, we will depart to Punta Tosca.
