Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2025-05-31

NEX at anchor at Cabo Pearce, Socorro Island on 90 ft of water, 2 shots out, Wx: NW 15 kts winds, Flat Seas in the bay and there are 3-5 ft seas from NW off the point and a 3-4 ft long swell from the south. Cloudy sky with some blue and sunny sky openings, Air temp 22C, Water temp 22C.

Today at Cabo Pearce, we moved this morning from Punta Tosca to Cabo Pearce. Winds this morning rotated to the West and there were still some north seas on our way to Cabo Pearce, not much big swell, it was a nice ride from one point to another.

We have done 2 dives here. There is a strong current going to the north, and viz is not so good as there are some cross seas, right off the point is like a washer machine some south swell mixing with north seas.

First dive we had 2 mantas, a couple hammerheads, some silkies and Galapagos, a few divers saw a tiger shark in the distance and one group saw dolphins that just passed by. It was a hard dive because of the strong current they had to be on a sheltered area from the current.

Second dive was more of the same, a couple of mantas some single sharks, they heard dolphins but they couldn’t saw them. The same annoying north current and the viz 10-12 mts. We are going to dive one more dive here then we will proceed to the navy base for check in. After dinner we will depart to Roca Partida for the last dive day.
