Anchor in 90ft of water, cloudy skies, it rains in Isla del Coco, Costa Rica, rain on and off, flat ocean no wind, air temperature is 80F, last night after sunset weather conditions change and we had some hours of strong winds and big waves we had to use all of our fenders to protect the skiffs as they were banging hard against the ship.
Today we have a different story, it is nice and calm. The dives with schooling hammerhead sharks, some Galapagos, eagle rays, many marble rays, the white tip reef sharks are everywhere and guests are not talking about them anymore, as they already take them for granted.
The schooling cotton mouth jacks come and go, they are in a very silvery color, sometimes they go dark, the horse eyed jacks are in the north side of Roca Sucia (dirty rock) we had so many of them that if you swim under the school it goes dark like if you were doing a dusk dive.
In Dirty Rock you go down to 80Ft and the hammers are getting clean, they come and slow down as they see the barber fish sharks go belly up and that is a sign for the barbers to come and clean them, just outside the rock the huge school of hammers hovers and they take turns to come to the rock to have the cleaning.
Visibility today is 100F or more is just that we need more sunlight, no current, some surge, water temperature is 82F and you can always find that thermos down in 90Ft.
I went in and my computer said 75F and water looks murky in there the dives are nice guests enjoying the island.
Yesterday in our third dive we did the garden in the shallow side of Manuelita, loads of fish and the start was the bright orange frog fish, some of the divers went crazy about it. Guests and crew doing fantastic, guests liked the ranger’s presentation of the park, we had it today in the morning hours
