En marcha la RATIFICACION UNESCO como PATRIMONIO NATURAL DE LA HUMANIDAD para la RESERVA DE REVILLAGIGEDO.
SOLO 5 sitios en México cuentan con este reconocimiento mundial: Sian Ka’an, Islas y Areas protegidas del Golfo de California, Santuarios de ballenas del Vizcaíno, Reserva de la Mariposa Monarca, y muy recientemente El Pinacate/Gran Desierto de Altar.
Será MUY importante para la conservación a LARGO PLAZO de la Reserva el poder lograr esta certificación en 2014. Posiblemente el MAYOR obstáculo es que como país, NO hemos logrado ser GUARDIANES EFECTIVOS contra la pesca ilegal deportiva y comercial en la zona de las 9.5 millas “SIN PESCA” alrededor de cada isla.
Tenemos una deuda con la Reserva y con las futuras generaciones. ¡ Es NECESARIO lograr este reconocimiento ! TRABAJEMOS todos para ello.

The UNESCO recognition for the REVILLAGIGEDO Biosphere Reserve as a NATURAL WORLD HERITAGE SITE has been set in motion recently.
ONLY FIVE sites in Mexico have been inscribed in the list so far; Sian Kaán, Islands and Protected Areas of the Gulf of California, The Monarch Butterfly Reserve, Whale Sanctuaries of El Vizcaíno and, very recently El Pinacate/Gran Desierto de Altar Reserve.
This WORLD RECOGNITION will be CRUCIAL for the LONG TERM conservation of the Revillagigedo Reserve. Probably the biggest obstacle at this time is the NON EFFECTIVE enforcement of the 9.5 mile “NO FISHING” zone around each of the four islands.
We ALL have the MORAL OBLIGATION to CONSERVE this magnificent piece of the planet. EVERYONE who loves this place needs to PITCH IN ! If you know anyone who might have written scientific papers or other relevant information about the Reserve please send a note via inbox.
