We lost 1 day due to Hurricane Christine but still looking forward to an exceptional week of diving coming up during peak season Socorro trip!

Note from Captain Mike.   Hurricane Christine just blew through the area.   There is always a risk that 1 or 2 tropical storms will move through the islands this time of year but it is SO WORTH it in terms of diving.  This is by far our favourite time of year to dive Socorro.  May and June are the only time of the year that we see schooling silky sharks.   Schooling hammerhead sharks are common.  Big tuna come in close to our divers.  And of course, it is BAIT BALL season.  The price that we pay for all this is that once or twice a season we get washed out by a hurricane.   I think that’s a decent bet.  Safety is not an issue because I watch the forecasts and weather models like a hawk.    And guests actually profit if we get washed out  ie.  last time this happened, we turned around and went deep into the Sea of Cortes on an exploratory expeditionary trip.   Guests got a full dive trip with everything we usually provide except that it wasn’t at Socorro.  The profit came in because we gave everyone a 50% credit towards a future trip with us.  Any destination.  No restrictions.  Most of the folks on that trip have already booked their makeup trip.      So short story is that the guests currently onboard spent 1 day in the Sea of Cortes diving with sea lions, a huge number of grunts, a turtle, big school of trigger fish, loads of jacks and lots of moray eels.   Their Socorro trip is otherwise uninterrupted.
