OH MY!!! I KNOW WHAT A SEAL THINKS ABOUT JUST BEFORE A GREAT WHITE SHARK APPEARS. APPARENTLY I SHRANK DOWN TO 60% OF MY NORMAL SIZE AS A 11 FT GREAT WHITE SHARK SWAM PAST THE SUBMERSIBLE CAGE JUST INCHES FROM MY FACE. WATCHING THE GAPING MAW WITH ROWS OF TEETH WHILE THE PROTECTIVE LAYER ROLLS OVER THE BLACK EYE AT SUCH A PERSONAL DISTANCE IS AMAZING. AND THIS IS ONLY DAY 1…
THE FIRST DAY AT GUADALUPE ISLAND DIDN’T DISAPPIONT. THE NAUTILUS EXPLORER ARRIVED AT THE ISLAND AT 6:30AM, CAGES WERE DEPLOYED AND THE POOL WAS OPEN BY 8AM. I WAS IN THE FIRST ROTATION SO I WAS FIRST IN THE WATER AT 8AM AND THE SHARKS ARRIVED SHORTLY THEREAFTER. GREAT WHITE SHARKS WERE PRESENT FOR EVERY DIVE AND MOST DIVES HAD MULTIPLE GREAT WHITE SHARKS. I WILL HAVE TO CHECK THE PICTURES TO MAKE SURE BUT I BELIEVE I SPOTTED AT LEAST 6 DIFFERENT INDIVIDUAL GREAT WHITE SHARKS. DEFINITELY A DAY TO REMEMBER.
ARRIVED AT GUADALUPE ISLAND ON BOARD NAUTILUS EXPLORER AUGUST 3 READY FOR SOME GREAT WHITE SHARK ACTION. DOUG, GARY, ANDREW, SHARON, JUSTIN AND MARKUS WERE THE FIRST TO DIVE BRIGHT AND EARLY AT 8 OCLOCK AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. ABOUT 10 MINUTES INTO THE DIVE SURE ENOUGH AN ERIE SHADOW APPEARS IN THE DISTANCE. I FRANTICALLY TAPPED SHARONS SHOULDER AND POINTED TO SIHOUTTE AS IT CAME CLOSER AND CLOSER TO REVEAL ITSELF AS A GREAT WHITE SHARK. AS WE WERE CLICKING AWAY WITH OUR CAMERAS ANOTHER GUEST APPEARS. 2 GREAT WHITES FISRT DIVE OF THE DAY, PRICELESS! #WILSONDIVING #FINNZSCUBACLUB
