I started working for Nautilus last week and had the opportunity to go on 8 night 9 day liveaboard aboard the absolutely amazing vessel, Belle Amie, as a training trip.
Comming from some of the best waters in Indonesia and running a liveaboard out there for the past 3 years, I was excited but not expecting to be as blown away as I was. The first day sail was Great, open ocean, no other boats in sight, dolphins swimming up along side us, fantastic food and presentations done by the crew, letting us know where were going, what we could see and how to interact safely with the animals.
Over the next 5 days and 20 dives I couldnt contain my excitment. I have been in diving for the last 7 years, I have done over 4000 dives in 3 different occean and on the first day at sea I saw 5 species I had never seen before including false killer whales, silver tip, galapogas, scalloped hammer head and silky shark. Over the rest of the trip we were treated to many dives with dolphins, giant mantas and the mentioned above.
The boat runs like a well oiled machine, literally and figuratively. Wake up, small breakfast, dive 1, big breakfast, dive 2, lunch, dive 3, snack, dive 4 and then dinner with drinks.
What I found really amazing is how well each individual crew member does their job to the best of their ability and keep the show running in a seemingly effortless manner, one of the first things I realized is that it going to be an absolute pleasure working along side these people, who come from all over the world.
so in short, great diving, great foood, greater crew and fantastic food. What more is there to say?
