I truly believe that after a good interaction with a manta ray at Socorro, something inside you changes. The intelligence and curiosity of these animals make divers put thoughts into another perspective about how important the ocean and its habitats are. On our second dive at Cabo Pearce, an adult male black morph came – he was not cleaning, nor feeding, this manta came to interact with us!
For more than 25 minutes he passed over the bubbles of all the divers and even stayed a couple of minutes with some. Swimming in circles around the group, he gave us peace and I feel so grateful to have these intimate encounters with mantas and to share my passion about them with other divers. I will try to find his name on the catalogue of the resident mantas of the archipelago and hope to see him again soon.
