Seeing humpback whales in the Socorro Islands during the winter months is commonplace. During our surface intervals, guests see these amazing animals breaching, fin slapping, and displaying their flukes from atop the sundeck. Diving with these whales is extremely rare. Luck has been on our side these last two trips aboard the Explorer. Our divers on consecutive trips were fortunate enough to have close encounters while diving with mother Humpback and calf. Twice in a lifetime dives. Maybe next week as well!
