Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady- 2022-10-05

Location: Isla Coronado and Isla del Carmen

Weather: Clear Skies, N Light Wind (10kts), Light Swell (1ft)

Yesterday afternoon on the last dive of the day a pod of bottlenose dolphins came into the dive site and one of the groups spent some quality time with 6 or 7 of them. After the dive, the RHIB when out to find the pod and everyone got a chance to jump in and snorkel with the dolphins. After that, we ran 30nm up to Coronados and anchored for the night.

This morning we’ve got two dives done at the north end of Coronados. Both great dives included sea lions, jawfish, schools of snapper, groupers, lots of healthy black coral, and gorgonians, and on the second dive 3, big eagle rays were spotted. The current is moderate to strong.

This afternoon we’re planning to dive Punta Tintorera and Punta Lobos, both on the north end of Carmen, and tonight heading to Las Animas.

Water temperature: 84°F

Visibility: 50ft
