First time traveling alone internationally, first time seeing Mantas during the day, first time seeing Dolphins in open water, first time seeing Hammer Heads, first time staying on a SCUBA diving liveaboard and first time diving in this part of Mexico. As you can imagine with traveling internationally for the first time by myself, as well as being on a remote liveaboard diving boat, I was very excited and nervous during the start of this adventure, but the fantastic crew on the Explorer made me feel comfortable and well cared for during this adventure. The accomodations are very comfortable, the food is delicious and the ship is well maintained/cared for.
The diving – OMG – The diving! What we all embarked on this journey for. Absolutely EPIC and beyond any abjectives. Right from the start it was non-stop Mantas, Hammer Heads and some Dolphins thrown in for some awesome diving. The dive guides, dive leaders, support crew and skiff drivers make sure you are looked over and safe as possible. They make sure you have everything necessary to have the best experience possible, depending on conditions. They are very professional and well trained to deal with anything that can happen. The Captain and officers on the ship do everythig they can to make sure we are safe and the ride is as smooth as possible.
All of the fellow passengers I have met have been delightful to chat and interact with. We all have amazing stories and life experiences, both SCUBA and travel related, to share among us and also help each other out when suiting up, diving and while on the skifs.
Overall, I feel fortunate to have selected the right company and ship to experience my Socorro adventure.
