First Encounter with Hammerhead Sharks

First dive in the morning. I was up early to catch the ride into Las Animas, plus I saw the super blue moon with the light outlining the surrounding landscape and the water below. Just a beautiful sight. The dive brief is complete, a hint of possible sharks around now this is what I came here for. Manu our guide, first few minutes into the blue, hear this ding on the air tank, looking around and then there they are. My first introduction to Hammerheads. What a glory to see, the grace and the beauty of something that has been around millions of years and there it is. To quote Ferris Bueller Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it. The same for sharks, they slip in and out of view in seconds. Last few minutes of the dive, just returning from the blue, looking down, a school of hammerheads just below, 20 to 30 or more. It’s a great morning in Las Animas.
