Giant Mantas, Tiger Sharks, and Baby Hammerhead Sharks!

“What an outstanding day of diving at Socorro! I am here to highlight one particular dive… After enjoying two great dives already, the bar was already set high. However, our third dive was something no one was quite prepared for. We dropped in on the Boiler’s south side. Near the park metal plaque is where the show began! We started our dive amongst a big school of hammerhead sharks! We waited to see them pass by, large adults and baby ones alike swam in front of our excited masks. One of the best parts of this encounter was that the hammerheads kept swimming back and forth for about 10 to 15 minutes. An awesome way to start the dive!

Once the sharks had faded into the distance, we proceeded to explore the western side of the site. Shortly after rounding the corner we saw a giant manta gliding by. As I turned back to my group to point at the manta, one of the divers pointed at the opposite direction. Right in front of the group a tiger shark was swimming from the bottom to the surface. We were all ecstatic! We proceeded to cruise around the western face of the site and encountered another pair of mantas that hung around with us until the very start of our safety stop. Undoubtedly a dive to remember!!! “
