The humpbacks are here! During the last dive of the day, a group of guests saw a humpback whale at Cabo Pearce! The whale was being escorted by a group of bottlenose dolphins! February is the month of humpbacks here at Socorro! I have terrible FOMO to be leaving! But next week I am coming back to cover for another dive guide, and hopefully the humpback with its calf will be in Roca Partida! Fingers crossed!!!!

Today at Socorro there was no space in the whole Canyon without a shark. There were hammerheads on the sandy area, passing by the cleaning station and cruising in the blue. Also silver-tip, Galapagos sharks, and three giant mantas around us. The most surprising was the behaviour of the hammerheads. They were not shy, they did not care about our bubbles, they pass by right beside us. Yesterday I was talking with my colleague Xavi, who dove in Cocos Island for years, and he told me: “Finally Celi the hammerhead sharks became friends with the divers here, just like Cocos. Is this a new way of diving in Socorro?” We hope so!
