Dive report, Nautilus Explorer, January 3rd 2020

We did 4 dives at the Canyon enjoying everything the ocean has to give! We swam with Chevron and Black Manta rays, 6 different species of sharks!! Resident Whitetips, Silvertips and big Galapagos sharks!! 3 Oceanic Blacktips hunting a small group of mackerels. Hammerheads cruising in the blue and over the rocks so chilled out we can come within a few feet and twice we saw the elusive and majestic Tiger Shark!! What a great gift the Ocean gave us all!!

This week at the Boiler we had amazing dives with really friendly mantas circling us forever. Truly magical!! They like the lee side of the current where it’s more calm. And then to top it off, a 3.5 meter tigershark swam right at us from the deep and over the pinnacle its stripes clearly visible. An excellent dive!!

One of the divers really wanted to see a tiger shark so we crossed our fingers on the way to the Canyon and on the minute 40 of the dive while floating as the last dive at 90 feet underwater a great tiger shark just passed in front of us. I was shaking hands with the divers underwater as a great moment we got this morning, everything was happening fair well.

This trip in Socorro has started off with a bang! The mantas at Cabo Pearce were huge, at least 16 ft wingspan and they were coming up to us to look in our eyes and play with our bubbles. On our first dive we had a pod of about 12 dolphins come and play with the divers as well.

Cabo Pearce keeps the famous tittle of a great spot for dolphins! Today we had in two consecutive dives dolphins visiting our divers. On the second dive about 12 dolphins showed up, but this time with 3 juveniles. Proud “mama” came to show off the babies and let them get to know a little bit about the humans! Very good dive!
