Dive Report, Nautilus Belle Amie

One of the divers really wanted to see a tiger shark so we crossed our fingers on the way to the Canyon and on the minute 40 of the dive while floating as the last dive at 90 feet underwater a great tiger shark just passed in front of us. I was shaking hands with the divers underwater as a great moment we got this morning, everything was happening fair well.

This trip in Socorro has started off with a bang! The mantas at Cabo Pearce were huge, at least 16 ft wingspan and they were coming up to us to look in our eyes and play with our bubbles. On our first dive we had a pod of about 12 dolphins come and play with the divers as well.

Cabo Pearce keeps the famous tittle of a great spot for dolphins! Today we had in two consecutive dives dolphins visiting our divers. On the second dive about 12 dolphins showed up, but this time with 3 juveniles. Proud “mama” came to show off the babies and let them get to know a little bit about the humans! Very good dive!

We were at Cabo Pearce and flying fish were already around the boat getting the sharks hungry! Once in the water for the Silky Snorkel everything was adrenaline, enjoyment and fun! We had about 6-10 sharks swimming around the divers and we had the chance to see them catching few fish! All excitement! There’s no reason to be afraid.

Whalesharks have been a regular sighting this season especially at Roca Partida. And we have seen more than 5 different Tigersharks at San Benedicto Island in the last week. What got our guests the most excited though was the crazy numbers of Scaloped Hammerheads at the Canyon. Twice we saw schools with more than 100 individuals!!

One thing you learn diving in revillagigedo is to never think your dive is over. You never know what surprise will come from the blue: another playful manta saying goodbye as you go up the inflatable, a wahoo or 2 curiously swimming around you, an inquisitive silky shark or like last dive in Cabo pearce, a big 9 feet tiger shark coming straight from the deep to take a peak at us! Magic is never over in revillagigedo…

Every day has had at least a few insanely good dives. On the first day we had more than 5 tiger shark sightings and schooling hammerheads at the Canyon. The second day we had a friendly whale shark and big schools of fish with some different species of sharks at Roca Partida. The third and fourth days were for the dolphins on Socorro island but we also had friendly mantas and another tiger shark at Cabo Pierce.
