First Blogs from Guadalupe 2018!

Day 1, Travel Day

So… it’s 9pm and I’m sure that I won’t be able to sleep tonight! All day we’ve been travelling to Guadalupe and the thoughts of ME and JAWS finally facing it off has been on my mind! And ONLY a few more hours to go!! Yikes! Yay! Whaaaa..?? How’d I end up here! Overall— I CANT WAIT!!

I can’t help but start with a huge WOW for the captain and crew of our vessel, taking the very best possible care of us as we eagerly travel towards Guadalupe Island for three days of once-in-a-lifetime shark diving. The food, service, accommodations, and amenities are second to none of any dive company I’ve ever been with! I’ve done cage diving with great whites in Australia before, and that short experience made me immediately think to myself, “Yeah…I need a lot more of that.” And Nautilus Liveaboards offers exactly that! We’re about 2 hours away from anchoring and I. Can. Not. Wait.

Day 2, Dive Day 1

One of the first things the divemasters told us was, “This is a weird choice for a honeymoon.” However, my wife and I have had such a relaxing, yet exhilarating experience aboard the Nautilus UnderSea. Guadalupe Island has been such a nice getaway and the crew has provided a fun and safe environment for us. We love having the freedom to dive whenever we want to see the great white sharks up close. Seeing one in person is an experience we highly recommend to everyone, especially doing it with Nautilus Liveaboards. On top of the vacation of a lifetime, the crew has prepared some of the best food ever and has been so accommodating with my wife’s gluten and dairy allergies. We are so thankful to be able to see the magnificent great white sharks in person in the beautiful, crystal-clear waters of Guadalupe Island. Thank you to Captain Mantarey and the Crew!

Upon awakening at 6 am on the first day of diving, I sleepily made my way to the deck. To my astonishment, the action was already commencing. A 12ft adolescent male was toying with the bait, showing his broad and aerodynamic form slicing through the water with ease. I knew this was a portend of amazing things to come. The next two days promise to be full of additional excitement and epic adventure – of this I am sure. I cannot wait to see what Mother Nature has in store for us at this one of a kind location, Isla Guadalupe.
