The second dive we did at the eastern pinnacles the group dropped down and right away encountered a small school of hammerheads, approx 8-10 loosely schooling, with several little groups spread out here and there. Guests are happy, loads of shark action, to be fair this morning it took a while to get the first shark but once the first showed up some more joined the hunting, some of these guys are going crazy for the baits, we had to send the engineer for but in 10 minutes he lost three pieces so he was out.

Spent this morning diving San Diego Reef, two good dives. Lots of reef fishes, some schools of sardines, and the beautiful swim-through at the big rock. After the second dive, we cruised south through the San José straight and did our third dive at the reef at San Francisco. Planning now to move into the bay at the south end of San José and do a pre-dinner night dive at el Callo of San Jose.

Yesterday afternoon was just as great as yesterday morning, with sharks present constantly. At one point our submersible cages say they could see 5 sharks at once. tons of action at the surface too. Mostly large females stealing out bait, but an occasional juvenile male sneaking through also.

Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2021-11-01

Yesterday the action in the afternoon was really good, lots of breaches, guests really happy and excited. Today we start early with the bait, but the first shark appears until 0905. Just right now we have had good action since 1100 am, at least four or five different sharks came to try with the bait, one big female was doing some vertical approaches, and now we have a small juvenile checking the baits.
