Easy passage from San Jose del Cabo to San Benedicto Island

Location: The Canyon, San Benedicto Island (commonly but mistakenly called Socorro Islands)

Comments: Captain Dave reports that they had an easy downhill passage yesterday from San Jose del Cabo to San Benedicto Island, with 5 to 6ft seas, northwest winds of 15 to 20 knots and air temps of 78 degrees. The seas are rougher today with 20 to 25 knot winds but the anchorage at The Canyon is protected with just a 1 foot chop. The Canyon came through with good diving with giant manta rays, white tip reef sharks, juvenile silvertip sharks and a small school of hammerhead sharks. A couple of humpback whales came close by the boat, but weren’t in the mood to interact with the divers.

Weather: Partially overcast, winds north 20 to 25 knots, seas 1 foot in the anchorage, air temp 78°F.

Water: Seawater temp at 76°F, visibility 75 feet (which is really good for the Canyon).
