The different species of sharks, and fish are in themselves diverse and abundant, but for me it was the giant mantas that won the show – and what a show they put on for us.
My mask was filled with the sight of dolphins and mantas happily interacting with divers for the entire dive.
El Canyon was incredible with the diversity including a school of hammerheads, a few juvenile silvertips, a couple of really big Galapagos sharks, some juvenile Dusky sharks, a few chevron mantas and 2 amazing tiger sharks.
A manta bigger than I could imagine stayed with us for 40 minutes, circling the group, getting as close as half a metre from us, from me.
Less than 5 minutes in water and we ran into 2 dolphins chasing a manta right in front of us!!
A massive group of schooling Hammerheads joined another massive group of schooling hammerheads and then there were over 100 sharks swimming close together in the misty water.
Hammerheads, dolphins, mantas and school of yellowfin tunas in 55 minutes of an epic dive.
