More time with whale sharks!

This has been an absolutely fantastic trip for everyone. For me I have spent more time with whale sharks in one trip diving than before in my entire diving career spanning 8 years. With four dives with whale sharks, and more than one individual over two days, with I don’t know how many minutes of interactions.

To finally have a chance to take my time to observe these leviathans of the ocean face to face and take in every detail with every guest and guide together with them in the water was incredible. The intricacy of the spots and lines forming their individual patterns, the sheer size of them particularly their cordal fin (tail) which is simply a giant paddle. Their tiny eyes looking right into my own and the calm and docile manner of such a large animal especially a shark.

They were definitely the highlight for me this trip, however the tiger shark was a close second. She came in on our final dive just metres away as the sun was setting at the boiler and the sun rays highlighted it’s perfect camouflage even in such shallow water and so close. As the 4m shark and water almost were blended into one! Not to mention multiple dives with dolphins, manta rays, hammerheads, galapagos sharks, silvertip sharks, silky sharks and even a turtle.

Socorro has produced another outstanding week for us it really keeps getting better and better.

This trip has been a blast from day one till the last here in Roca Partida for 2 days, full of schooling sharks and massive mantas and whale sharks!

I wish these dives could never end, but it’s time to go home and start over again with new friends. 😀 Thanks for all the team from Peru and elsewhere on this trip aboard the Belle Amie.
