Fantastic Adventure at Socorro Islands Aboard the Nautilus Belle Amie

If you are crazy about diving and exploring exotic marine life, the Socorro Islands is the location to be in. Considered among the best diving sites in the world, the beautiful waters and the surrounding islands are a diver’s paradise. Socorro is famous for sighting giant mantas, sharks, whale sharks, and porpoises, more abundant than anyone can hope to see in the ocean below.

But before I come to the diving part of my adventure trip to Socorro Islands on board the Nautilus Belle Amie, it would be a grave injustice if I did not mention the 5-Star hospitality provided to the guests on the boat. The care and attention given to us all, starting from the captain and down to every crew and staff was something that will stay in our hearts for long and went a long way to make our vacation even more memorable.

The entire crew, with passion and enthusiasm, made it their mission to make every guest feel special and have the best adventure trip ever. This included outstanding food in keeping with the diet needs of guests that would beat Michelin-star restaurants on shore, quality educational presentations, comprehensive safety measures, much laughter, and lots of fun. Then there were the knowledgeable and highly professional dive masters who guided us to amazing sea creatures on every dive.
This was an outstanding vacation, and I am grateful and blessed to spend a week on the Belle Amie. Looking forward to exciting future dive vacations to the Baja peninsula with Nautilus Adventures.

Diving off The Socorro Islands – A Surreal Experience

Not let us get down to the very core of why we are here at Socorro – to dive and see great marine life at very close quarters.

We woke up to calm waters and a blue sky at Socorro and were eager to start diving at Cabo Pearce. We gave our amazing dive master Juan David an extremely tall (maybe impossible) order on what we wanted to see…and he more than delivered! We started the dive by finding a school of hammerhead sharks and had some giant mantas coming out of the blue to play with us for an extended period. Near the end of the dive, we had three dolphins swim by!

I would have been thrilled with any one of those sightings, but to get them all in one dive was indescribable! Looking forward to what we might find on our last day of diving back at San Benedicto!

Rounding off Our Memorable Vacation

And the last-day dive did not disappoint us at all, rather it lifted our spirits no end and I would consider it one of the best of this trip. A small whale shark swam right up to our skiff asking us to join it in the water. We kept an eye on it as we descended below the surface and while doing so, we saw numerous mantas which swam right above our heads. The whale shark came back to us 4 times during our dive and then, suddenly, its mother came and she was HUGE!!! She came to gather the baby whale shark and the duo swam off into the dark depths of the ocean.

After they left, we rounded off this incredible dive with a sighting of 4 mantas that came by to say hello! This dive was remarkable and will be etched in my mind for a long time to come. If you have not traveled to Socorro with Nautilus yet, it is time that you started planning for one.

In conclusion

I would like to tell my readers that I am no novice to this game. I have thousands of dives around the world under my belt and nearly 20 liveaboards. But I can honestly say that this place, the Socorro Islands, is insane, I mean you lose your grip on the realities of the world since it is such a surreal experience. Mantas, sharks, dolphins, whale sharks, false killer whales, morays, fish uncountable, and this just keeps on coming one after another, keeping you thrilled and engrossed in these beautiful creatures around you. It is a blessing to be here on an adventure trip, especially for dive addicts like me.
