Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady- 2022-10-04

This morning we did two dives at the north end, the first dive at Las Galeras and 2nd at Bajo Sandia, a couple of miles north of the island. Both dives were very good, with very cool topography, lots of reef fishes, and beautiful visibility today. At lunchtime, we moved to the south end and we’re diving a reef right at the south tip of the lighthouse, a nice reef that sits at around 40-50′, with nice fish life and some healthy soft corals and sea fans. And just as I’m writing this I can see a big pod of bottlenose dolphins hanging around the rhib and the divesite, so hoping the divers get to see them on their dive.

Really Enjoyed the Variety of Locations

I don’t know where to begin, the entire trip was absolutely amazing. everything about the trip was perfect. The entire staff does an amazing job, they are very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to help you in any way. They are a big part of what made this such a great trip. The diving was also amazing really enjoyed the variety of locations. I was pleasantly surprised when we moved to some other locations after expending a couple of days at Cabo Pulmo. Each new dive was just as good as the previous one but in a completely different way. The variety of the locations kept it interesting.

Last night guests arrived around 2130. They ran into some delays along the way but when they did arrive they were in good spirits and happy to be onboard. We ran overnight back up to Loreto and arrived at our first site at 0930. Our checkout dive was done at honeymoon cove on the west side of Danzante. The dive went well, a nice reef with lots of reef fish, morays, and a couple of turtles. V

Yesterday we did two-afternoon dives at La Reyna which the guests really enjoyed and a night dive at the north end of Cerralvo which was not as exciting, viz was a bit down. Overall a great day though. This morning the two dives at Las Animas have been very good. On the first dive at the north rock, one group saw 8-10 hammerheads down in the sand around 80′. Lots of sea lions around, of course, although not super playful so far, but this afternoon we’ll dive with the young pups inside the bay. Conditions are really nice here, current mild to moderate. We’ll have taco night tonight and anchor at San Francisco to dive in that area tomorrow, then finish with our last dive day at Espiritu Santo.
