Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2022-07-18

The first dive was done in Ensenada Grande and two of our guests went hiking, they returned to the boat very happy, they did like walking on the paths of the island a lot and divers also did enjoy their dive. The second dive was done at Cardonal and we are about to do one more at el Cardoncito, after this dive we will have kayak activities, snorkeling and skiff tours and also we will have a night dive, once we finish we will head to Las Animas.

This morning we went mobula hunting and the results were amazing, guests were so happy that they asked for a second snorkel so right after breakfast they went out again, and some of them came back yelling Thousand of mobulas! Did Someone Say Orca?

Never seen an orca ever in my life, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Spotting them was a 50/50 chance during our 7-night and 8-day expedition. Knowing that going in, there was a possibility we might not see them and accepted that. I was really hoping that we were able to see them. Looking for them in such a vast open ocean can be looking for a needle in a haystack. I remained optimistic.

The first dive on the west side of Las Animas was pretty nice with loads of fish, two people saw one hammerhead shark and a guitarfish.
