Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady- 2022-09-10

Two dives are done so far and both are very good. Some playful sea lions around, some big schools of fish, and one group saw the hammerheads on the second dive. DM Sebastian counted around 50 hammerheads. After dive 2 we went offshore about a mile and found a huge pod of bottlenose dolphins and everyone spent around 20 minutes snorkeling with them before we headed back for lunch. So, having a great day here so far.

Yesterday after we finished with our night dive at the Corralito, we departed to Las Animas, everything was good but in the middle of the early morning around 0430 am started raining, the wind speed increased, gusts were around 25 kts SE and the sea rise around 5 ft SE, so I decided to find shelter in the San Jose Island at W and we are in la Lobera. We started diving at 0900 hrs, the dive was good, we could see a couple of sea lions, and many reef fish. When we picked up our guests the sea lions who were resting on the rock started jumping into the water very close to our guests so we snorkeled with them.

We had a great day of diving today, with Josie and Cuco from BEX in the Pato Buzo helping us around Espiritu Santo Island. Today was the first day that Los Islotes opened again for the summer and there were lots of young sea lion pups, playful as always. Also some big schools of sardines. The Fang Ming had lots of fish and it was turtle central, with lots of hawksbill turtles living around the artificial reef.
