The highlight, as expected, was our diving with sharks. The divemasters were outstanding, pointing out unique behavioral traits, wrangling sharks to the surface, and encouraging us to maximize our time in the cages. They never ceased to provide more shark interactions, utilizing every minute until the cages were closed for the day. They were never satisfied until the guests were worn out for the day.

The entire experience was incredible. I had extremely high expectations coming into this “trip of a lifetime” and the Nautilus crew far exceeded anything I could have imagined. Within the first 20 minutes in the water, I was surrounded by five large white sharks! To boot…it was my very first time ever using oxygen underwater. Ivan the divemaster who instructed me was marvelous with his instructions. 15 minutes after we started, we were 10 ft down in a cage having the times of our lives feeling like pro divers lol.

As the day began, we took to the sun deck to marvel at our surroundings. Guadalupe Island is a breathtaking island all on its own in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We could hear the cries of the baby seals on the island calling for their moms to return from the hunt. On the dive deck, you know things are getting real when you hear the call of “SHARK!” and turn to see the dorsal fin and tail of a great white shark.
