Today was our first day at Guadalupe Island for this trip. We saw over ten individual great white sharks, and even some dolphins and a sea lion! This morning was nice and steady, with several sharks in the area, but after lunch, they must have decided to step it up! We had breach after breach and some very large sharks in the area. “Persephone,” a large female (4.5m/14ft) with lots of gruesome battle scars stayed with us all day and dominated the surface action. It was a great start to the trip.

We had incredible action the whole day and at the peak we had seven sharks swimming around the cages at once. The last hour of the day was by far the best action. There were sharks all over the place it was hard to figure out where to look.

I set my alarm for 6 am and almost considered going back to sleep, but I just couldn’t stand the excitement! I headed outside and I immediately saw sharks and couldn’t turn away for even a second! The day was amazing. The sharks gave all of us a show on the surface and in the deep cages, and we couldn’t get enough! The crew was so amazingly helpful at spotting, wrangling, and helping us do what feels most comfortable and exciting.
