I saw today the biggest great white shark I have seen here at Guadalupe Island on board the Nautilus Explorer: “Dotty!” We estimated her to be at least 5 meters (16-17ft) in length.
From the cages you could see the anchor chain and we had 4 great white sharks circling the cages and the boat all day long.
The wranglers were working like crazy, especially when 4 sharks were trying to get the bait at the same time!
This season is definitely on fire: we had non stop action for all three days of diving.
Today was the best day of the trip! There were so many sharks cruising around, going for the bait, sneaking up on us.
On occasion we also see humpback whales and even beaked whales, which are an extremely rare species that are capable of diving deeper than sperm whales!
Our divers have been excited to get in the water since we left port and today the shark surface action and the shark wranglers did not disappoint.
