We have now identified over 300 individual white sharks in the bay that we dive in. And most astonishing of all, we had trips with 3 dive days in which we saw over 50 different great whites.
They came so fast from the deep to break the surface and in less than a second, the whole shark’s body was completely out of the water!!
I am simply without words at how amazing the overall experience has been, seeing more great whites than I could have ever imagined.
The overall activity in a day was at least 10-12 different sharks and the most at one point was 6, which made for an amazing dive. It also made it hard to figure out which way to turn!
I especially appreciated the warm welcome that we received from the crew and other trip members alike, given that this was our first diving experience. You all made us feel right at home, so for that thank you!!
I saw today the biggest great white shark I have seen here at Guadalupe Island on board the Nautilus Explorer: “Dotty!” We estimated her to be at least 5 meters (16-17ft) in length.
Many large sharks, the big females, are starting to arrive, with several individuals at 13ft plus and some as large as 15ft!
