Captain’s Noon Reports – Belle Amie – 2022-01-29

We got underway last night around 2100 for Isla Socorro, where we anchored this morning at Punta Tosca. The dives so far this morning have been decent. Dive one had one manta seen by most groups and a couple of hammerheads off in the blue near the transmitter. The second dive was slower, with just one or two distant hammerheads and no mantas. Still, this site is entertaining with the topography and the corals. Lots of reef fish. Divers are enjoying the day. We will do one more dive here and then get underway for the Navy Inspection, finishing the day with silky snorkel at Cabo Pearce.

Captain’s Noon Reports – Belle Amie – 2022-01-26

We arrived at The Canyon last night around 2300 already anchored and planning to dive there. We made a tentative plan to do our checkout dive at Fondeadero and then move to the boiler for dives 2-4. The check-out dive at Fondeadero was perfect for our divers to get accustomed to the operation and figure out their weights, etc. There was no current and visibility was around 50′. There was at least one manta sighted as well as some Galapagos sharks. It wasn’t amazing, but divers enjoyed themselves. As soon as divers were out of the water we got underway and relocated to The Boiler. We have done one dive here so far, and the divers loved it. The current was very mild from the south and visibility varied between 50-80′ with some hazy patches. There were at least three mantas at the site, with some of them giving great shows to our divers. So far it is a great start to our first day of diving! The plan is for two more dives here and then we will shift back to Canyon to anchor for the night and dive there tomorrow.

The Last Dive of the Day Was Mantastic

The last dive of the day was mantastic. We spend one hour at 45 feet interacting with at least four different oceanic mantas. To finish this amazing day we had a snorkel session at night with silky sharks. Cannot wait for tomorrow’s dives at Cabo Pearce!

The first two dives have been fantastic. Visibility is over 100 feet and wildlife is here to play. On dive one divers saw a large tiger shark, three mantas, and dolphins, as well as some hammerheads. Dive two had at least two friendly mantas and more tiger shark sightings. The guests are loving the topography and the calm boardings.
