International Guests Weigh-In on Guadalupe, San Benitos and Socorro

We are currently on our way to Socorro Island on the Nautilus UnderSea combo trip. The three days of cage diving with great whites at Guadalupe Island were absolutely fantastic. It is so exciting when one of the wranglers yells “Shark!” and everyone onboard drops what they’re doing to move to the edge of the boat to catch a glimpse of a massive Great White charging the bait. It’s especially rewarding to catch one breach. Scuba diving with the Sea Lions at San Benito and Cedros Islands was also an amazing experience. For wild animals, they are so curious, friendly, and playful.

The dive crew onboard are attentive, fun, and make preparation and execution of dives smooth and easy. I loved the music selection they played on our days with the Great Whites. Our host is always there ready with water/hot tea/hot chocolate after a dive and attending to any of our other needs while on the boat. The boat is kept well cleaned daily, and the cooking onboard has also been fantastic.

This is only scratching the surface of all the great things happening onboard. Without a doubt, this will be one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I’m so glad I decided to go with Nautilus for the trip! Can’t wait to see what is waiting in Socorro!

Had an absolutely fantastic trip on the Nautilus Explorer doing the back to back Guadalupe and Socorro trips. Great boat, amazing dive guides and crew. Lots of tasty food, snacks and cookies, and of course, fantastic diving and the opportunity to see great white sharks up close and personal.

When people say ‘Go to Socorro to see BIG Mantas’, it’s no lie; it totally delivers! Amazing experience with wonderful animals. Well worth the visit. The Nautilus Explorer is a great boat with a superb crew; they made the trip even better. You want to dive the Revillagigedos?…. Dive it with Nautilus.

An unforgettable trip to Guadalupe to cage dive with Great Whites followed by diving with Sea Lions at Cedros/San Benedict then the Magnificent Mantas around the Socorro group. Excellent and plentiful food – thanks to Enrique, graciously served by Nubia and Maria. Great support/advice/guidance by the entire team of Divemasters Jessie, Hector, Victor and Arturo (thanks for amusing and informative lectures). Finally, frequent updates and briefings from Capt Lowell delivered with bone-dry humour were always appreciated. It was a long way to come but 100% worth it. Thanks Guys.

Guadalupe Great White Shark

So unfassbar schön!

We are just on the way back to the coast. Spend some of the best diving adventure I’ve ever had in my life. And I travelled a lot and had some dives in the past. If someone would have told me there might be the chance to have lots of different sharks, like Silvertips, Whitetips, Galapagos shark or Hammerhead and then several huge Mantas cruising around, a whale shark and Dolphins at just one or two dives, I would have put this into the corner of the diver myths! But it happened exactly like this. These spots belong definitely to the best diving spots on our planet. The beautiful landscape above and underwater, the wildlife, that invites us to see, to be part if it is awesome. This is what you feel, if a dolphin comes so close looking into your eyes and spending time with you in the water. This is absolutely worth the long way!

Very special thanks to the whole crew, that made this trip to what it was. They are working hard the whole day, starting before guests get up and working till late. What I really liked that all crew members were a team, working together and helping each other. Thanks Anna, it just seems like you are working 24h a day, reading the guests wishes from their eyes anytime… just wondering if you never sleep?! Everyone gave me the feeling that they like what they do and this makes sometimes the difference. I really enjoyed these two weeks on the Nautilus UnderSea so much and would love it to do another trip!

When I came onboard I had a big WOW effect, I was amazed about the high maintenance level of the Nautilus Belle Amie The welcome was more than great, the hostesses did an amazing job, beautiful and charming girls that are constantly happy and on top of everything during the whole trip. It seems they still enjoy serving me espressos… and I drink a lot… they do still with a smile! And they still clean my room that honestly is a mess.

Diving was and is still stunning, divemasters are everywhere, working hard but always friendly, funny and helpful with all requests divers might have and we all know divers are a pain in the ass. Great guys, awesome individuals, amazing team players and very professional. Very good briefings and great presentations about sharks and mantas on top. My expectations more than fulfilled. Galley crew is incredible… I am not hungry since days anymore, but I still eat… it tastes tooo delicious… and that 5 times a day!

And then of course the guys that have non-guest facing jobs like CE, CO and 2nd mate. They help on dive deck, ride the RHIBs and are present wherever its needed. I always felt safe during sailing or anchoring and I know how hard night watches can be… thumbs up for those superheroes without capes that we never see flying.

All in all, Captain TJ has an amazing crew and it seems he is more the big brother of those guys than the hard salty dog that has to kick a**… He always informed us about what’s going to happen, schedule, weather conditions, diving, sailing, safety and boat drills, you name it… he is everywhere and do it all, he might have super powers too. Standing ovations for an American captain which earns the respect of his crew naturally…

I didn’t mention any names because it would be more than unfair to pick someone out… this amazing operation is a big big team effort and each crew member is a very precious part of it… a puzzle piece of this big picture that I am almost blinded by (and guys I really try to feedback low profile).

Big up for the entire crew and the guys in the offices for that more than well organised operation. I know there might be personal frictions and technical problems here and there but as guests we never felt any issues, big up for that too.

For the dive: It can’t get much better… No words… just shark, shark, shark… still speechless. No lie. Come and see yourself. Thank you guys, for that unforgettable trip and for feeling home for 2 weeks!
